After completing this flyer project, this flyer had a good layout to successfully portray the topic for the I Love Consent campaign. It was difficult in the beginning stages, trying to get the thumbnails to show a visual perspective of what the flyer needed to look like. However, after several steps of trying out different visual aspects such as different fonts, colors and overall formatting, it was extremely satisfying to see something as minuscule as a thumbnail come to life. Coming up with a header and subhead were difficult in regards to trying to figure out how to grab the viewer’s attention with words and colors. Picking the exact wording for each the header and subhead was not an easy task as well. The subhead in this flyer shows that in any given situation, no matter what, actions cannot and do not speak louder than words, especially when it comes to consent. Just because there isn’t a verbal “No”, doesn’t mean that the answer is automatically a “Yes”. The subhead portrays this aspect very well.
The I Love Consent Campaign targets a younger audience, and the flyer created definitely depicts that aspect. Using a slogan from a popular movie, and creating it into a new format to spread awareness of consent, will create a good message for the viewing audience. The colors used make the flyer eye catching. The use of red colored font shows that certain words are supposed to stand out so that it catches you eye. Also, in order to visually relate to the audience, hash tags within the flyer were shown.
In regards to the Design Hierarchy, this task was proven to be difficult. It was already known that the title “Straight Outta Consent” would be the primary image, however it was the entire part after of trying to place the words and the remaining information in a strategic place, in order to make it appealing for the viewers. Choosing what to say within the text regarding only brief information about the campaign wasn’t difficult, but choosing the exact right words was tedious. The flyer accurately depicts the nature of the campaign, and successfully shows a positive visual image.
